From Burden to Opportunity
Language: 🇬🇧

Time: 14:30 – 15:00
Format: Lecture
For those in small and medium-sized enterprises interested in DPP
Speaker: Suvi Haimi, Ovido
Organizer/host: The Nordic Textile Academy

The future of Europe’s textile industry will not be won on price, but on transparency and sustainability. The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a chance for SMEs to prove durability, traceability, and circularity, and to turn these into a competitive advantage against fast fashion. Beyond compliance, preparing for DPP helps automate data collection and reduce manual workflows, strengthen supplier collaboration, and reduce costs: under the revised Waste Framework Directive, accurate product data can directly lower EPR fees. Drawing on lived experience and concrete case studies, this session shows how SMEs can digitize their product data and prepare for DPP. We will also show how bigger companies can prepare for DPP and simultaneously cut manual work, unlock new business models from textile waste, and make sustainability not just visible, but profitable.
