Exhibition: Textile power
Plats: Terxtilmuseet
In the permanent exhibition Textile Power, visitors are taken on a captivating journey from the societal transformation of industrialization to today’s innovation environments. The exhibition is a dramatic portrayal of the local development in Borås and the Sjuhärad region, reflected through the conditions that shape modern-day mass production abroad.
At the heart of the exhibition is the factory. Here, textile machines demonstrate the process from fiber to finished fabric. The rhythmic thumping of the machines and the scent of oil fill the space. The labor, lives, and struggles for better working conditions, both historically and today, are central to the narrative.
The exhibition examines the disruptive impact of industrialization and technological progress, laying the foundation for a flourishing industry. It also addresses issues of consumption and environmental impact, encouraging visitors to reflect on these topics. Additionally, the exhibition highlights the textile industry’s modern significance, with a focus on research and development. Textile Power showcases the broad influence of the textile industry—past and present, both locally and globally.
